Cooling types and mounting variants

The WESSAMAT ice cube makers of various designs (cooling types) are available for a variety of requirements and assignments.

Basically a distinction is made between 3 cooling types:

Model series L:
air-cooled version for standing alone e.g. as a table top unit or free-standing appliance.

Model series LE:
air-cooled, fully mountable version

Model series W:
water-cooled type

Deciding on the most suitable cooling type depends on the spatial requirements and micro-climatic conditions where it is to be used.

Air-cooled type :
The air-cooled ice cube makers can be installed wherever there is sufficient air circulation. WESSAMAT ice cube makers of Type L can be used as table top units or as free-standing ones in rooms where temperatures do not exceed 32°C. Even so, a sufficient gap to walls, ceilings and other machines and equipment must be assured (see illustration). Given that these pre-conditions are met, air-cooled ice cube makers have an advantage over water-cooled ones as no extra water is needed for cooling. This has a positive effect on ongoing operating costs.

Air-cooled, mountable type:
A special variant for mounting in counters and gastronomic system furniture are the Blue Line and Top Line air-cooled machines (LE models). These mountable air-cooled ice cube makers have an intelligent ventilation system complete with integrated counter flow fan. This stops any "air short circuit", heat build-ups and increased melting rates of ice cubes . Impurities from the air are reduced by long-term acting absorption filters installed behind the ventilation grilles. Thus optimum air circulation is ensured even in the case of mounting in a very confined space.

Water-cooled type:
The W type water-cooled ice cube makers are particularly suited for mounting in counters and system furniture and for use in rooms with high ambient temperature and air humidity. Water–cooled ice cube makers are particularly recommended for kitchen use in view of the higher temperatures and fat loads. They should also be given preference over air-cooled ice cube makers where generally higher ambient temperatures are found (southern Europe, South America, Africa, south-east Asia and Australia).

The Blue Line and Top Line LE models provide an extremely economical alternative to the mountable water-cooled ice cube makers.
